In 2006 I decided to purchase a yacht from Pittwater and sail it home to Melbourne. Road transport was expensive and there was a risk that my new yacht may get damaged on the 1000km…trip (and after all, yachts are meant to be sailed!).

An ocean yachtsman is a rare breed, they don’t get sick, they are even tempered - cool under pressure, are able to work effectively in a team and have to have a great deal of experience in a range of trying situations. Simon Dickins is one of this rare breed.
Over the last 12 months I have had the pleasure and great benefit of having Simon bring me and my crew up to a degree of competence where we know feel proficient in offshore conditions. Simon has guided us through 3 ocean yacht races – Queenscliff to Flinders, Queenscliff to Stanley and Melbourne to Hobart.
Simon has an ability to convey his vast knowledge of seamanship in an enthusiastic courteous and authoritative way.
