Just bought a new boat? Great! Know much about sailing? Not really? Never mind! The wonderful thing about sailing is that everybody can participate: young/old, male/female etc. Easy! And like the man said when you picked up the keys, Mate, just put some sails up, and off you go..

And it's true. You take the boat out, the sun's shining, you have a great day, come home, tie up: no problem. And if you do make a mistake or two, well, likelihood is, there's no-one around to see it, so again, no problem.

Compare that to starting golf. Very different. You get a new set of clubs. Go round in 105. Everyone can see you. What do you do? Get lessons. Why? Because a golf scorecard's OBJECTIVE. Nowhere to hide.

So what's the compelling reason to get some sail training? TO GET BETTER. It's not to say you're a duffer, but the truth is, everyone can improve. In yachting, no-one knows it all. No one.
